Why We Don’t Do "Free Discovery Calls" (And What to Expect From Your Paid Clarity Call Instead) | AuDHD Nourished™

If you have ever stared at a "Book Now" button and felt a sudden wave of paralysis, you know the exact weight of that executive function demand.

You have likely already encountered the systemic trauma of standard medical gatekeeping: the endless waiting lists, the rigid 10 minute NHS appointments, and that deeply exhausting feeling that you have to "perform" your symptoms just to be taken seriously.

For the neurodivergent brain, that process isn't just frustrating; it’s a physical barrier to care.

As a Specialist HCPC Registered Dietitian with 15+ years of clinical experience, and as an AuDHD woman who has navigated these exact same systems, I know that the hardest part of getting support shouldn't be the "getting there". It should be about finding a space where you don’t have to translate your brain.

In this edition of AuDHD Nourished Narratives, we are pulling back the curtain on how we do things differently at AuDHD Nourished™, starting with why we charge a £35 fee for our 15 Minute Clarity Calls, and exactly how that fee actually protects your nervous system.

🧠 The Psychology of the Paid Call: Why Is There a Fee?

In the coaching world, "Free 15 Minute Discovery Calls" are everywhere. But for an AuDHD practitioner and an AuDHD client, free calls often create a hidden cycle of dysregulation. Here is why we intentionally shifted to a paid model:

  • It Eliminates the "Sales Pitch" Pressure: When a call is free, there is an unspoken pressure for the practitioner to "sell" you into a high ticket package or programme to make the time financially viable. Charging £35 completely removes that uncomfortable sales energy. You are paying for 15 minutes of my dedicated clinical eyes meaning our conversation remains entirely objective, safe, and zero pressure.

  • It Filters Out the Noise: Because I strictly cap my active 1:1 practice at just 10 clients weekly to protect my clinical energy, my calendar space is incredibly valuable. A small financial commitment ensures that the potential clients booking these slots are genuinely ready for support, keeping the calendar open for those who need it most.

  • It’s Fully Credited Back: Think of the £35 not as an extra cost, but as a placeholder deposit. If we decide on the call that one of our 1:1 pathways (or our 4 week asynchronous programme) is a perfect fit for you, the entire £35 is fully credited back and deducted from your programme price at checkout (as long as booked within 7 days to keep that momentum building)

📋 Exactly What Your 15 Minute Clarity Call Looks Like

Because ambiguity is incredibly anxiety provoking for an AuDHD brain, let’s lower the demand by mapping out exactly what happens before, during, and after those 15 minutes.

1. The Pre-Call "Supportive Strategy"

To make our 15 minutes as high value and low demand as possible, you will complete a brief form when booking. This handles the essential safety, risk, and clinical scope checks before we meet. It means you don’t have to spend your live minutes answering administrative screening questions about your GP or support network, I will already have reviewed it ahead of our call.

2. Evaluating Your Baseline Capacity

When we meet on the secure video link or telephone call, we don’t wander into deep trauma or complex problem solving. We stay on the surface to look at the big picture. We look at where your energy is crashing the hardest, and we evaluate whether your nervous system currently has the capacity for live, weekly sessions or if an asynchronous (access anytime) approach is safer.

3. Navigating the "Calendar Menu"

If we look at a live package, we don't play email tennis trying to find a time later. I will present my exact, current "calendar menu" of open weekly slots. We choose your fixed weekly anchor live on the call, and I will place a manual 7 day hold on that slot on my end so nobody else can take it while you complete checkout.

4. Presenting Your Pathways

We will cleanly lay out the two distinct ways to build your low demand lifestyle baseline, allowing you to choose the delivery method that honours your current battery:

  • The 4 Week AuDHD Nourished “Just Enough” Asynchronous Strategy Programme: Entirely text, video, worksheet, and audio portal based. Zero live video calls, zero masking, and zero calendar pressure. Best for deep burnout.

  • The Premium 1:1 AuDHD Nourished 6 Session Complete Reframe: My highest proximity 6 week live partner , including a built-in "burnout protocol" where live sessions seamlessly pivot to asynchronous reviews if you are too exhausted to show up.

🏁 What Happens Next?

If we reach the end of the 15 minutes and agree we are a clinical fit and our energy aligns you can take a deep breath.

I will put a hold on your chosen slot so no-one else can book it, send you a follow up email with your private, hidden registration link, and include your unique, single use coupon code that applies your £35 credit. You have a clear, 7 day window to complete checkout at your own pace, with absolutely zero chasing or executive strain.

By keeping these calls structured, boundaried, and valued, we ensure that if you do decide to start your journey with AuDHD Nourished™, you are doing so with a regulated nervous system, a clear head, and complete predictability.
